The Future of Higher Education: a discussion blogged

Tonight a panel of college and university presidents discussed the future of higher education.  The session was hosted by the New School and live-blogged here.

The session’s blogging consists of the following posts.  We welcome your thoughts and comments.

  1. An introduction to the event.
  2. The opening discussion: president Van Zandt’s remarks, followed by a consideration of the entire model of higher education.
  3. Continued discussion: what campus leaders can do, and the fate of small classes.
  4. Final discussion: DiY learning and audience questions.

The New School streamed the event, and is archiving it here. A vigorous Twitter discussion occurred as well, anchored on the #FutureHigherEd hashtag.

We blogged the 2011 New School conference on the same topic.  It’s fascinating to see what has changed in one year, and what persists.
